“Designing” for children means taking up a challenge, fighting standardization, creating objects which encourage (rather than hinder) the innately unique way each child engages with the world that surrounds them. Kids Design Week aims to celebrate the challenge of designing for children. It is a gathering of minds who deal in this unique practice with
insight and great creativity.
KDW searches for the fruitful dialogue in the co-mingling of the adult perspective and the child perspective. It embraces and showcases projects that stimulate both of these spheres in unexpected ways and then, through dialogue and interaction, are able to go beyond their original scope and intent.
KDW takes place in Milan’s National Science and Technology Museum where work is shown amidst historical and legendary sailing ships, steam engines and aircraft.
Kalon Studios has several pieces on display at KDW including the Caravan Divan Twin, which will be debuted in Europe at the exhibition.
